The course unit 'Bachelor's thesis ' consists of writing a paper and presenting and defending it before a jury.

The following objectives are addressed for writing the paper:

  • the student formulates a clear research question / problem statement;
  • the student analyses and researches;
  • the student presents the results clearly and processes them correctly;
  • the student interprets the results obtained and draws meaningful conclusions from them;
  • the student produces a well-structured written paper, written according to the imposed style rules and provided with the necessary references.

The following objectives are addressed in the presentation before the jury:

  • the student makes a structured presentation of the essence of the research question/problem addressed and this with an appropriate design;
  • the student presents clearly, using good language and a good attitude;
  • the student answers the jury's questions on the research question / problem definition accurately.

The student writes an undergraduate thesis independently according to the guidelines communicated through Canvas. 

The individual thesis supervisor supports and guides the student during the process.

The thesis is presented in front of a jury.

All communication takes place via the Canvas course.

The written paper of the Bachelor's thesis should be submitted on time. If the paper is not submitted on time, the student cannot participate in the presentation in front of the jury. Only in cases of force majeure can an extension of the submission deadline be given by the programme manager.

The jury determines the final score for the Bachelor's thesis. The jury bases this on the following evaluation components:

  • approach, process and final result (50%)
  • communication (30%): written report (15%) and oral presentation (15%)
  • answers to the questions asked (20%)

If the student does not submit a written paper or does not presentes the Bachelor's thesis in front of the jury, this results in an NA (not taken) which is processed as a 0/20 for this course unit.

This course unit is not tolerable.

This course unit does not allow partial mark transfers.
