Content
Neonatology: We build on the introduction around neonatology from phase 3. Medical aspects are explored and the care of the preterm infant is also covered. Topics include: adaptation to extrauterine life, care for respiratory problems, congenital heart defects, asphyxia and complications of prematurity.
PICU: Topics from paediatric intensive care are also covered: Care in Shock, trauma and resuscitation.
Chronic care: The theory from the basic years will no longer be covered, but we will elaborate on the following topics: paediatric oncological care, Palliative care in children, care in renal problems.
Child psychiatry: how to deal with biological vulnerability and traumatic influences from the context as a future nurse. Mental health care cannot be left out of a paediatrics department. The following topics are covered: impulse control disorder, developmental disorders, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, eating disorders. All content in this volume is taught from a paediatric and nursing perspective.
Pedagogy: In support of your attitude and communication towards the child and its environment, we also give you pedagogical principles.
Besides our own lecturers, guest speakers will be used for specific parts of this programme.

In addition to lectures by our own teachers, guest speakers are also used for the lessons. The material covered by the guest speakers is also exam material.
You will be given assignments to prepare for or rework the lectures.
Self-study material will also be offered.

A single examination will be drawn up, in which not all the themes of the OPO will necessarily be examined and in which the number of teaching hours per theme will not be taken into account. This examination will be designed in consultation with the co-tutors.
There will be no communication in any way about which topics will or will not be examined.
The result obtained is not a calculation based on the weighted average, but an addition of the marks obtained, reduced to 20.
Information about retaking exams
This course unit does not allow partial mark transfers.
In the second term, the examination format and method remain the same as in the first term.
