Aims

Scenario training

Scenario training provides students with the opportunity to further develop within the domain-specific learning outcomes, namely:

The student coordinates and organises a patient's care in a quality manner according to evidence.

  • The student communicates in a professional manner with the patient and the multidisciplinary team according to learned methodologies.
  • The student forms a clinical judgment about the patient according to the learned methodologies and makes decisions to implement appropriate interventions, both practical and theoretical
  • The student can think solution-oriented, reason clinically and comes to integration of knowledge and skills
  • The student evaluates the implemented interventions.
  • The student acts according to CRM principles in the context of patient safety.
  • The student acts according to the methodologies offered;ISBARR, ABCDE approach, EWS.
  • The student reflects on his/her own actions.
  • The student provides targeted feedback.

Nursing technical skills (not for Bridge and Rialto)

  • The student performs nursing procedures according to the basic principles.

E-learning module

  • The student reasons clinically.
  • The student interprets patient data correctly.
  • The student answers knowledge questions of all subject matter from the complete Bachelor of Nursing programme.

Online test environment ‘Clinical view: Casuistry’.

Previous knowledge

Regular students must have passed the OPO KO stage 3

HERO students must have passed OPO KO Hero stage 3

Rialto students must have passed the OPO KO Rialto part 2

Bridge students must have passed the Critical Reflection on Practice OPO Part 2 and the Critical Reflection on Practice OPO Part B.

Content

The OPO clinical integration consists of the following components:

  • 2 sessions scenario training
  • 1 summative assessment
  • a summative progress test
  • a summative skilss test (not for Bridge students and  RIALTO students)
  • a summative e-learning test
  • Online test environment "Clinical view: Case studies"

Course material

Study cost: 26-50 euros (The information about the study costs as stated here gives an indication and only represents the costs for purchasing new materials. There might be some electronic or second-hand copies available as well. You can use LIMO to check whether the textbook is available in the library. Any potential printing costs and optional course material are not included in this price.)

Scenario training + assessment: All learning content from the nursing course is practised in 2 sessions and evaluated by means of an assessment.

  • summative skills test (30%)
  • summative test e-learning (25%)
  • Online test environment "Clinical view: Case studies" (10%)

For  Rialto students and Bridge students:

  • assessment scenariotraining (43%)
  • summative progress test (7%)
  • summative test e-learning (35%)
  • Online test environment "Clinical view: Case studies" (15%)

The student must take all parts in order to obtain a pass.

If not all parts have been completed, this will result in a maximum of 7/20

The OPO clinical integration is tolerable and can be retaken in EP3.

This course unit does not allow partial mark transfers.
