Aims
Learning objectives:
The midwifery student can supervise a normal pregnancy after the course;
The midwifery student recognizes and respects the psychosocial and intercultural experience of the woman and her family;
The midwifery student communicates medical information to the couple in an understandable way;
The midwifery student integrates new, EB information into the existing knowledge;
The midwifery student explains how the menstrual cycle works;
Midwifery student recognizes symptoms and signs of pregnancy and explains them to the mother;
The midwifery student explains the physiological changes per discussed body system and gives advice;
The midwifery student gives the couple information about prenatal preparation;
The midwifery student guides the couple through the process of screening and diagnostics about the possibilities and results of prenatal screening and diagnostics;
The midwifery student applies risk selection to realistic cases;
The midwifery student correctly takes an anamnesis;
The midwifery student can prescribe and interpret a peripheral blood sample.
Previous knowledge
In order to be admitted to the program, the student must have a Bachelor Degree in Nursing.

1. Conception of pregnancy

8. Peripheral blood sampling (theory and practice are not treated. The student must be able to fill in and interpret lab forms, as is also discussed in chapters 2 and 7)
9. CPR (theory and practice are not treated.)

This OPO is offered in guided self-study. As provided in the curriculum, a limited number of contact hours are also provided. The student takes contact with the teacher in order to schedule this moments.
